Sensei Edwin (Ed) Miranda

Sensei Ed began training under Ken Tambara Sensei at the Carson Karate Club at the age of eight and was awarded his shodan (first degree) black belt at sixteen. His black belt was awarded by Hidetaka Nishiyama Sensei. He also trained in the Korean Yonmookwan Taekwondo Association with Grand master Kwang Sik Myung in Tustin, CA. He earned his 1st degree black belt on December 2002 by Grand master Kwang Sik Myung in Taekwondo. He joined the JKA American Federation and re-certified obtaining both his shodan (1st degree) and nidan (2nd degree) black belt by Takayuki Mikami Sensei and Takenori Imura Sensei (in New Orleans, Louisiana). His teaching experience began when he would attend class and help his Sensei teach the beginning and intermediate classes. He stopped teaching for a while until he moved from Southern California to Northern California and resumed teaching with JKA East Bay.

Sensei Jimmy began training karate in the Philippines at the age of fourteen. He got his black belt at twenty-three years old. Sensei Jimmy's teaching career began back in 1996 when he was in Guam. Jimmy and his brother, Ben started teaching there together. When he came to the US he met Ron Lastrilla in 2016 and his first student was Ron. Now the program has grown and we have many new students eager to learn karate.
